Land

Hydro Tasmania manages approximately 111,600 hectares of land associated with our hydropower schemes, extending across diverse land use and environments, including the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.

We undertake Environmental Impact Assessments for developments and maintenance activities to minimise construction impacts, to operate with care in sensitive environments and to comply with legislation.

Hydro Tasmania balances operational requirements with those of the environment, other land users and adjacent land managers. Our primary environmental land management practices include land remediation and rehabilitation, and managing threatened species, pest animals, weeds and erosion.
